Taking a Month Off

Just wanted to let all of you know that I am taking a month off from blogging. I will still be posting the weekly Tao Tuesdays, for those who are keeping up with that, but I won’t be writing any new stuff this month for the blog in order to give myself a little break and to work on some other writing projects that have been needing some attention.

I will be back in January 2014.

My challenge for next year will be to limit my reading to only books about the I Ching and Taoism. It’s a deep dive into the I Ching, which I have been wanting to do for some time. I will share about my challenge on the blog next year as I go through it, so stay tuned. I have a few other things in mind for next year as well, but I will announce some of those projects as they come up.

For those of you visiting for the first time, here are a few things to get you started on this blog. There is tons of material here, so perhaps if you are stopping by you could just catch up on some of my older posts and series to get you going:

Nine Chakra Series: I started a series of posts where I chose nine basic principles from the Tao Te Ching and compared each principle to a chakra and wrote about it. This series is in hiatus at the moment. I will continue the rest of it in 2014. But if you are interested in catching up, I started with Awareness, then did Stillness, Discipline and Humility. I still have a few more principles that I need to finish for this series.

List of All Chapters Page: At the top of my blog, there is a link to the list of all the chapters. For each chapter, I wrote an essay which is also linked to from that page.

Thoughts on Tao: After I went through the entire list of chapters, I started going through them a second time but this time in a series I called Thoughts on Tao. I would just use the chapter as a prompt and then just talk about whatever came up for me. I didn’t mention the chapters in these posts, but if you want to challenge yourself you can try and figure it out and then look for the clue at the bottom of each post where I tagged the post with the appropriate chapter. You could also do a search for Chapter 29 (or whatever number) and all the posts that are tagged with that chapter will come up.

Tao Tuesdays: This series is a chance for you to chime in. If you go to the list of all chapters page, you will see that, next to many of the chapters there is a link for the Tao Tuesdays post. This is a re-posting of the original chapter, along with an invitation for bloggers to write their own thoughts on what the chapter means to them. You can pick any chapter and you don’t have to start at the beginning, but just add your link to the post if you want to have your chapter added. I get people looking at my list of all chapters page every day so it is a great opportunity for you to share your thoughts with some new readers.

Meditations: Every so often, I like to post little meditations to share with my readers. Here are a few for you to enjoy.

Interviews: I did a few interviews this year, but would definitely like to do more of them in the future. Here are a few of them that I did.

Have a great month, everyone, and see you in 2014!
