Nothingness is the Origin of Heaven and Earth

Tao Te Ching Chapter One

In case you’re wondering, “what’s this?”, I am experimenting with pulling quotes from each chapter and making some sort of art with it. I got this new set of lettering stamps (which may end up being a new strange obsession for me) when I went shopping with my sissies, so it was kind of a special thing. This is the first time I used them, so a little bit of edge on some of the letters when I stamped with them. I have a ton of papers from other crafting sisterly shopping sprees, so perhaps they will come in handy. (In case you hadn’t guessed, frequenting art and crafting stores is a family trait.)

I think that it would be fun to work with these quotes artistically this year. Last year, I wrote the Tao Te Ching. This year, I am not exactly sure how I am going to play with the text but this looks like fun. What do you think? What would you like to see me make?

You can read the entire chapter and my essay about it here.

  2. Wow! What a quote! I can get that.. must write it down, not quite as artistically as you though Amy!

This is a lovely idea and I think you will find a receptive audience for your quote artwork. It combines great sentiments with a charming homespun style that is favoured by scrapbooking fans. Do you have a Pinterest board that you post these on? If not, I recommend that you create one because I think it would find a good audience there.

Yeah! Someone else suggested that I make a Pinterest board for these. I am going to try and do that, and add a PIN IT button underneath my images.
