This image is actually a piece of batik fabric that I used in making my quilt last summer. I took a photo of it and then turned down the opacity so that it lets the letters stand out a bit more. The quote is from the Tao Te Ching, Chapter 5. You can read my entire essay on that chapter here.
That chapter is one of my favorites because hardly anyone knows what a straw dog is, but straw dogs are such a great analogy to the relationships we hold to our bodies in this lifetime. Our bodies are sacred, and yet we burn or bury them when life is done. Poetic.
Here is a photo of my quilt, in case you are curious. No, I don’t make a lot of them. This was my first one and, judging by how long it took me to complete it, it may be a one-of-a-kind. My husband and daughter and I snuggle up under it when we watch TV together in the cold MN winter evenings.
Peace, everyone. Have a great weekend.

Gorgeous batik work! And I love the saying. Pinned it.

Thanks, Michele. Thanks to you, I call it done!
You did an awesome job on this beautiful quilt Amy. Love that its being well used with your family. I haven’t created a quilt in 22 years and made several from the age of 14 when an elderly neighbour wanted to teach me and we had made a simple quilt together, I think my parents still have it to this day many decades later.
Great job with your quote also. Also pinning your quotes!
